이름에서 알 수 있듯이, 이 작품은 정원을 묘사하고 있다. 정원의 정의는 '채소, 과일, 허브, 꽃 등을 재배할 때 사용하는 땅'으로, 정원은 당연히 식물이 번성할 수 있는 유리한 조건을 제공해야 함을 의미한다. 그러나, 이 조각은 "정원"이 꽃의 성장을 해치는 요소들을 포함하고 있다는 아이러니를 전달한다.

이 안에서, 꽃은 피지 않고 시들어 가는 것처럼 보인다. 이것은 시민들의 기본 권리와 자유를 보호해야 할 법들이 실제로는 그것의 의도에 반하는 기능을 하는 아이러니한 사회 현상을 조명한다. 즉, 많은 개인들은 법의 보호의 반대편에 놓여 있고 그들이 받을 자격이 없는 끔찍한 결과에 직면한다.

As its name suggests, this sculpture depicts a garden. The definition of a garden is “a piece of ground used to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs, or flowers,” which signifies that a garden should naturally provide favorable conditions for plants to flourish. However, this sculpture conveys an irony in which a supposed “garden” contains elements that damage the growth of flowers.

Thus, the flowers appear to be withering instead of blooming. This sheds light upon the ironic phenomenon within society, in which laws that are supposed to protect the fundamental rights and liberties of citizens are, in reality, functioning counter to its intentions—many individuals are placed on the opposite side of the law’s protection and face dire consequences they don’t deserve.
