내 또래의 어떤 아이들은 갑작스러운 부모님의 수감으로 인해 홀로 남겨지고, 상처받으며, 더 나아가서는 절망감에 밝은 미래를 꿈꾸지 못하기도 한다는 이야기를 들었다. 나는 이 아이들에게 희망을 주기 위해 이 그림을 그렸다. 해는 저물고 있고, 세상에 혼자 남겨진 것 같겠지만, 해는 언젠가 꼭 뜰 것이고 독수리는 다시 넓은 하늘로 날아오를 것이다. 그 기다림의 시간동안 그들이 슬퍼하거나 외로워만 하는 것이 아니라 지평선 너머 세상을 보며 더 큰 꿈을 꿀 수 있었으면 좋겠다.

I've heard that some of the children my age have been left alone and hurt by sudden incarceration of their parents and, in turn, unable to dream of a bright future in despair. I painted this picture to give hope to these children. The sun was setting, and it seemed like I was left alone in the world, but the sun would surely rise one day, and the eagle would fly up into the sky again. In the meantime, I hope they can dream bigger while looking at the world beyond the horizon instead of being sad or lonely.
