모든 사람은 사랑을 받을 자격이 있습니다.

아이들에게 이 메세지를 전하고 싶었습니다. 세움에서 출간된 책, <어둠 속에서 살아남다>을 읽으면서 가장 인상 깊었던 부분은, “사랑받을수만 있다면 동정심이나 연민따위도 괜찮다고 생각했기 때문에 감추고 또 감추며 평범한 가정에서 태어난척 연기하며 나를 거짓으로 꾸며냈다” 라는 구절이었다.

이 작품을 통해 하나 하나 손 바느질로 엮은 꽃을 통해, 나는 세움의 아이들이 외면과 거절을 다시 겪을까봐 두려워서 자신 의정체를 숨길 필요가 없다는것을 전하고싶었다. 대신, 나는 그들이 다른 사람들로부터, 그리고 가장 중요하게는 그들 자신으로부터 사랑받을가치가있다는것을알았으면합니다. 

Everyone deserves love, and nothing less.
This is the message I wanted to send to the children of Seum through my artwork. While reading the book published by Seum, the part that struck me the most was, ”as long as I could be loved, I thought I could accept any compassion, so I tried to hide my true self, pretending to be born into an ordinary family, making my life into a lie.”
In my work, the individually hand-sewn flowers communicate that the children of Seum do not have to disguise their true identity in order to shy away from re-experiencing any rejections. Instead, I want them to know they are worthy of love from others and most importantly, from themselves.
